Hypnotherapy Overview

Last week I became certified as a Rational Hypnotherapist, under the training of Dr. Aldo Pucci.  Hypnotherapy is done to help an individual express deep thoughts that may be uprooted.  While in the training, I learned (at a deeper level) how to help someone, to help themself.

There were subject areas addressed and I couldn’t help but to think how I could help apply the technique with my family and friends.  While it is frowned upon to counsel them under therapeutic context, hypnotherapy does not reject this idea because it is considered a different level of therapy.

Surprisingly, the teens I work with seems so eager to be “hypnotized” but they struggle the most with measurable, specific goals and true motivation.  The most successful client is someone who has a specific goal that they are wanting to achieve.  Some common issues that are seen with the most positive results are: anxiety, depression, anger, sleep problems, substance abuse, weight loss, and smoking.

I am looking forward to applying this practice with others and helping them to the best of my ability!

Miami-Dade AHEC Seminar

On Saturday, August 29th, I taught a seminar on “The Changing Body” to other therapists, nurses and case managers at Miami-Dade AHEC.  The objectives were to identify and understand natural changes of the body in tweens and teens, understand the emotional stuggles of puberty, and help tweens and teens understand themselves and others.

I was a bit nervous being that it was my first time speaking on this subject, but I did all of the proper research necessary and felt prepared.  It was for 2 CEU’s, so I had to speak for 2 straight hours.  The experience was slightly more difficult because the air-conditioner was not working, so we had to rely on large fans scattered throughout the room.  Miami-Dade AHEC provided customer service personnel that were easy to talk to, quick to respond, and supportive.  I look forward to teaching more seminars on various topics encompassing adolescents.

The Changing Body Seminar
Saturday, August 29, 2009

I am excited to announce the upcoming seminar, “The Changing Body.”  This program will be geared toward the internal and external experiences tweens and teens go through on a daily basis; from the stages of puberty , when it occurs, what changes are taking place, and how to help children feel comfortable with themselves and the changes.

I will be conducting this seminar on August 29th.  If you are interested in attending this event, please visit:
